What We Offer

Our Services

Independent acoustic consultancy across the full spectrum of built environment challenges. Every recommendation is evidence-based, standards-compliant, and tailored to your project.

Architectural Acoustics Consultancy

Different spaces require different acoustic considerations. Atelier Acoustics helps ensure your building and spaces achieve optimal acoustic qualities according to their intended use.

There are three key factors to good architectural acoustics:

  • Sound insulation between rooms
  • Reverberation within enclosed spaces
  • Ambient noise of interior spaces

We can assist architects to achieve BCA Green Mark points necessary for certification, including verification by acoustic testing and commissioning. We are also well-versed in:

  • BS 8233 — Guidance on sound insulation and noise reduction for buildings (BSI)
  • AS/NZS 2107 — Recommended design sound levels and reverberation times
  • WELL v2 — Building Standards, United States
  • Building Bulletin BB93 — Acoustic design of schools, UK Department of Education

Acoustic Analysis, Testing & Commissioning

Atelier Acoustics has trained professionals to conduct acoustic analysis, testing and commissioning in compliance with international standards.

Our testing parameters include:

  • Field Sound Transmission Class (FSTC), Noise Isolation Class (NIC), Weighted Level Difference (Dw) and related sound insulation parameters
  • Reverberation time, RT60
  • Noise Criterion (NC), Noise Rating (NR), A-weighted Sound Pressure Level (dBA)

We use industry-standard, calibrated equipment to ensure accuracy. As an independent consultant, our reports are unbiased and fully reliable.

Environmental Acoustics Modelling & Simulation

Atelier Acoustics models and simulates environmental noise using SoundPlan, the industry-leading noise modelling software. Typical applications include:

  • Reduction of traffic noise entering residential buildings
  • Control of mechanical equipment noise at site boundaries affecting neighbouring properties

We assist architects in preparing Noise Impact Assessment (NIA) reports for submission to the National Environmental Agency (NEA), as well as testing and commissioning reports required at the TOP/CSC stage.

Auditorium Acoustics & Performance Spaces

Atelier Acoustics understands that the acoustic quality desired by musicians may differ from that of the audience — and the importance of striking the right balance between them.

We work with musicians to design spaces based on:

  • Tonal Balance
  • Sound Strength for projection
  • Ensemble quality — the ability to hear one another
  • SPL exposure for protecting musicians' hearing (rehearsal rooms)

Designs are based on BS ISO 23591:2021 Acoustic quality criteria for music rehearsal rooms and spaces, with tailored adjustments for each project.

Speech Clarity in Public Address Systems

Speech clarity is critical in spaces with Public Address systems — ensuring alarms and announcements are intelligible enough to prevent incidents. Atelier Acoustics can:

  • Simulate the Speech Transmission Index (STI) of spaces using AFMG EASE
  • Measure STI upon construction completion using the STIPA signal, in accordance with international standards
